About Ted Eugene Davis

Ted Eugene Davis of Gilbert Arizona, passed at the age of 76 on June 22, 2026. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He was born on December 6, 1949, in Sioux City, Iowa.

Ted is survived by his wife of 35 years, Leigh; two children, Todd (Lesley) Davis of Gilbert, AZ and Jenni (John) Veretto of Mesa, AZ; four grandsons, Matt (Brandi) Veretto, Mark (Sadie) Veretto, Jackson Davis and Ryan Davis; four great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Finn, Luke and Nora; brother, Ben T. (Gail) Davis of Mesa, AZ and many nieces, nephews, friends and pets who loved him and will miss his kind and gentle spirit.

He was preceded in death by his parents John ”Jack” E. Davis and Beryl V. Davis and brother John “Dick” R. (Thomiana) Davis.

Ted graduated from Mesa High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from California State University as well as a master’s degree from Arizona State University. Ted also served in the US Air Force. He retired from the Arizona Department of Education in 2014, after more than 40 years, where he was a Manager of CTE Grants and Enrollment.

Ted and Leigh resided on their homestead in Gilbert, where Ted enjoyed caring for their many animals, which included horses, donkeys, goats, chickens, ducks, cats and dogs. More recently they spent summers at their home in Pine, Arizona.

A Celebration of Life will be held at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 2085 East Southern Avenue, Tempe, Arizona on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 11:00am. Lunch will be served at the church following the service.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Davis family. Ted was a caring, respected and engaging administrator with the AZ Dept. of Education. His innovative work in CTE certainly stood out. He will be missed by all who had the opportunity to know and work with him. -Bob
